Home Office to beef up Big Data capability within Digital Services at Border

£2m project aims to boost Borders IT’s Big Data capability


The Home Office’s Digital, Data and Technology (HODDaT) Borders IT is  looking for a delivery partner for ongoing Big Data capabilities to work on projects within its Digital Services at the Border (DSAB) programme.

DSAB resides within the Border Systems Portfolio building functionality to transform the way the Home Office manages UK Borders. The primary benefits of delivering DSAB are to enhance the security of the UK; gather and act on data from people and entities crossing the border, both inbound and out; and provide timely, accurate data to those who need to access/use it.

The Borders IT work package aims to increase the development capabilities of Border Crossing (BX) Advanced Freight Tracking Capability (AFTC) and Advance Border Control (ABC) DSAB’s programmes. The projects are at various stages of delivery ranging from ramping up, in delivery and/or in live use.

The delivery partner will join the team responsible for managing the build, deployment, and continuous integration of the project through development, test, and production.

The end users include Border Force, Police and wider government agencies responsible for securing UK borders, and detecting criminal behaviour.

The delivery partner will need to demonstrate experience of designing and implementing solutions in the engineering and big data space, including ownership of the software architecture, design, technical governance and product choice.

The Supplier will be predominantly based at Home Office premises at Lunar House, Croydon.

The budget for the project ranges between £1.5m and £2m, with an initial contract term of one year plus an option to extend by six months.
