The Government Commercial Function (GCF) is looking for five IT Deal Specialists for its CTT department to play a role in the broader commercial reform programme led by the Government Chief Commercial Officer, supporting the development of commercial capability and expertise across central government.

GCF is a cross-government network of commercial professionals that deliver and support procurement and contract management, analyse markets and develop commercial strategy. The department’s responsibilities varies from buying of probationary services, to renegotiating contracts for the department for work and pensions, to Ministry of Defence IT spends.

The new recruits will be responsible for delivering value for money on departmental IT programmes and projects and identifying best commercial approaches to deal with complex contracts.

A key part of the role will be shaping and leading commercial negotiations with both new and incumbent suppliers through to a pre- defined acceptable conclusion and resolving high-value commercial and legal disputes between government departments and strategic suppliers.

The vacancy note said , “There is an increasing demand for this group to work across some of the major IT projects and challenges facing Departments over the coming years. The salary range for the role ranges from £95k to £130k with up to 20% performance-related-pay bonus.

Candidates who do not fully meet the vacancy’s requirements, but come close, may be eligible for consideration for a post at associate commercial specialist level.

Applications close on October 23.
